Stanley (Stan) B. Sawyer, CPA is the Resident Partner-In-Charge of the Memphis, Tennessee office of the firm. Stan began his career with the international accounting firm Deloitte Haskins and Sells (now Deloitte Touche) in Memphis, Tennessee. Stan joined Banks, Finley, White & Co. in 1979 as a Staff Accountant and was admitted to Partnership in 1985. Stan is a Certified Public Accountant and holds Certificates in three states.
Stan has extensive experience in providing services in the areas of not-for-profits, financial institutions, retail, hospitals/healthcare, employee benefits plans, legal services, construction and state and local governments.
In 2004, Stan was appointed to the Tennessee State Board of Accountancy by Governor Bredesen. He has served as the Board Secretary, Vice Chairman and Chairman and served nine years. Stan was appointed by Shelby County Mayor Jim Rout to the Shelby County Health, Education and Housing Facility Board and served for 12 years as Chairman. Stan was selected as one of Ten Outstanding Young Americans in 1992 by the U.S. Junior Chamber of Commerce. Stan has served on numerous community boards in Memphis.
Stan received the Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in accounting, Summa Cum Laude from LeMoyne-Owen College in Memphis, Tennessee in 1978. He received his Masters of Business Administration from Regis University in Denver, Colorado 1998. He is a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants
